How to deal with a long distance relationship.

Never in my life I would have thought I would be in a position like this, to be in a long distance relationship that is. Myself and Andrew have been together a while now and living in different cities has had its difficulties; 129 miles to be exact. Two train journeys and a lift/bus to and from the stations. Seems like a lot to do just to see your other half. Too much for some, so we thought we'd share some of our do's and don'ts with you guys (:

DO'S

  • Call/Skype/Facetime as much as possible - Because we cant see eachother every other day I think it's important to do this as texting just isn't the same - calling is a lot more personal.
  • Take it in turns to travel - Not only is it to share out expenses but it's great to see where your other half lives, what it's like, where they grew up etc. Personally I just find it really fun seeing new places.
  • Make proper plans for dates - This doens't mean the one of you decides everything and makes all the plans, for example when Andrew comes up to see me i'll maybe plan what we're going to do and vice versa. This can make the dates a lot more exciting as can do something that you may have to book in advance for example a trip to zoo or something like that (: which links to my next point..
  • Organise dates well in advance - Again this will cut costs as transport will be fairy cheaper if you book in advance and it also means you can book something a little more special than just going to the cinema and for a meal.
  • Tell them how you feel - This goes both ways, whether its good or bad news for them. They aren't mind readers, so sometimes it might be better to be a little more upfront about things. Seeing as you don't get to see them as often it will be a bit more difficult for them to get hints.
  • Little surprises - As little as a cute text goodnight, those little unexpected things make all the difference and let them know just how much they care, it shows that you are thinking of them and are taking the time to do something for them.
DON'TS

  • RUSH! - I feel like this is the most important point i'm going to make. If it's meant to happen, it will. There's no point of adding extra pressure with the title of 'boyfriend' or 'girlfriend' until you know you both are ready to make the commitment.
  • Make it one-sided - Being so far away means  you both have to put in a lot of effort to make things work. One person making all the plans, always travelling and just generally the one making all the effort will not do anything for the relationship; they will feel unappreciated.
Thanks for reading! We only have a few for each as we are learning each and every day. Most importantly I feel that we are as strong as we are as we both know we'd rather be together than be with anyone else.

What's in my bag?

I always have been the nosey type and like to see what other people carry about with them so thought I'd make my own post, so here is well, what I have with me in my bag today!

I was just away out shopping with a couple of my friends, catching up and getting the finishing touches for my Christmas presents. Well that was the plan, stuck for what to get my Dad (any suggestions?!). Since I wasn't going to be out for very long I'm just carrying the essentials really.

The bag I am using is this super cute red satchel, for a small bag it's quite spacious and has a zip pocket inside and a small pouch on the back. Unfortunately this bag was a gift and i'm not sure exactly where it was bought from but i'm sure you could find something similar floating around ebay.

After emptying the contents of my bag, this is what I came across:

My Purse is just an average, completely ancient purse from Jane Norman that i've had for years but I just can't seem to change it. Had dozens of new ones but for some reason always seem to go back to this one. It's simple with a very subtle leopard print detail and is big enough to hold all the useless loyalty cards I seem to stock up on!

This little piece is actually new and I am so happy with it, it's a pass case. So most likely used for a bus pass but I have put my railcard and my train tickets that I have bought for future into here. I don't think i'll be carrying this about with me very often but today I went to collect my tickets so took this along just to keep them safe.

I like to carry around a diary and a pen just incase I write something down or have made plans that I need to remember, I have actually misplaced my actual diary so right now I am just using this lovely notebook from WHSmith. A lot of people will like to use their mobile phone for these things but I have the habit of writing it in a note on my phone and then completely forgetting about it! Whereas this I always remember to check. So strange!

My keys! Can't forget them, otherwise I'd be locked out! I'm rather boring with my keyring/s I used to have lots but when it came to using a smaller bag for nights out it became such a hassle as I had to remove them all so my keys would actually fit in the bag and not take up too much room. I just have this wrist strap keyring from glitzy-glam as it's so easy to keep a hold of your keys if you have a couple things to carry. (Mines is looking a tad worse for wear so may need to invest in another one from somewhere- the shipping was insane just for a keyring!)

Make up for the day! I always grab a couple things from my make up collection before leaving the house, these tend to include my liquid eyeliner, mascara, lip of the day(today I just had on 'honey' lipgloss by Barry M) and sometimes concealer depending on my skin that day. Then just a few hair grips if I fancy pinning my hair back.

Although this bag is quite spacious for a small bag, at the end of the day it still is a small bag and won't fit everything so I couldn't fit my everyday perfume which is Marc Jacobs daisy in with the rest of the stuff so today I opted for this tester of J'adore by Dior simply because it would fit in my bag!

And that concludes what I had in my bag, not the most interesting of things today. For my next post I might do 'Handbag Essentials' for daytime and nighttime - let me know what you think.

Review | Topshop Lip Stick

Recently I decided to take a step out of my comfort zone and go for something just that little bit different and more out there, orange lips is something I haven't seen on many people but those who I have seen look gorgeous! Such as Zoella - I feel make up wise we have quite similar taste and tend to have our lips as the more focal point of the look, I've always been into my reds and pinks but never before had I considered orange and i'm so happy I did as I'm in love with it!

Searching all over Boots and Superdrug I could not find a single orange lipstick I wanted to try, in the end I gave up and carried on with my shopping. Later on that day I stumbled upon this bright orange lip stick in Topshop. This shade is called Hedonist and I immediately fell in love with it and knew I needed it in my collection!

The colour pay off is great, it is very pigmented and easy to apply. The pen/pencil type product makes application that bit easier; especially with such a bright colour you need it to be applied perfectly. It is very soft and creamy and is quite moisturising to the lips.

After the product has sunk in and been sat on your lips for a while it can start to feel a tad drying after about an hour or so, that is the only negative thing I can say about this product. This problem can be fixed though, I just applied a small amount of clear lipbalm over the top and it did not effect the colour at all and made my lips feel soft again. Once the lip stick has been on for several hours I feel like it becomes more of a stain as it has slightly faded and is not as bright, it is still a nice colour and I don't feel like it looks like I need to apply more if I don't need to. The faded colour slightly reminds me of crosswires by mac.

I haven't tested this out with many different outfits but for someone who tends to live in monochrome I feel like this is a perfect pop of colour and something different rather than just reds or pinks. For someone who is a bit more out there than I am; i'm sure it would look amazing with so many different outfits but if you are like me a simple jeans/discopants and a white tshirt with this is fab! Or for an evening out this with a simple LBD is perfect and not too over the top!

Overall this product is completely worth the money and I would 100% repurchase this! (may even have a cheeky little shopping trip to pick up some of the other colours) For only £8 this is a complete steal! Also if you are a student with your 10% off I got this for £6.20 which is amazing!

Subscribe if you liked and would like to see more from me!

Thanks
