Teilas Travels | new series

Helloooo,

Long time no speak! I've been considering doing a series like this for quite a while. As some of you may know if you follow me on twitter or instagram that I really like to travel about a lot. Not necessarily leaving the country ever other week but just treating myself to a few weekends away to another city within the UK or just having a fancy night away at the spa; so i thought this would be something i could talk about from time to time. Reviews of hotels, packing tips and anything else that comes to mind to do with travelling!

What do you think?

Hopefully there should be a few posts coming your way soon as i'm off on holiday next week!

Go To Hairstyle | TeilzC

Hello lovelys,

As some of you may know i'm not very high maintenance when it comes to my hair, in fact I rarely do a single thing to it other than wash it!

Recently i've noticed most days I am doing the same hairstyle and i'm really loving it! It's so easy and takes no time at all which are both a winner with me, I feel like it's almost 90s but maybe thats just me.

Messy waves with the top pulled back into a little pony tail. I feel it can be dressed up or dressed down- so versatile!

Now what you are all waiting for, how can you get this look?!

1. First of all, start off with wet/damp hair and part where you like. Note- the wetter the hair the longer this step will take. I like to leave my hair in a towel for 15 minutes and then air dry for another 20 minutes before the next step but will depend on how thick and long your hair is.

2. Seperate the hair into two sections at either side of your head and make two french plaits (there are plenty of tutorials online if you arent sure how to do these). I like to sleep on these overnight as they are completely dry by morning, you can also do these in the morning and use a hair dryer over the plaits but I feel the overnight method works just that bit better.

3. Once the plaits are completely dry you can slowly undo them leaving these gorgeous waves! If your hair doesnt hold waves/curls very well this is the time to hairspray! This is an optional step as my hair holds quite well and I don't need to include this step.

4. Final step! Take a small elastic and gather the top section (i'd say no lower than your temples) and tie into a pony tail and tighten! And we're finished! Another optional step is the back comb this section to create more volume if you'd like. For me back combing would only be if I was going out in the evening.

Second day curls also work! They are much looser but still cute non the less!

What's your go to hairstyle at the moment?

Relaxing after a stressful day | TeilzC

There are many ways that we all like to relax and just chill out after a stressful day. With the type of work that I do, I need a chilled out night after every shift! Twelve and a half hour shift plus the stress that comes along with calls for these!

1. Bath time! Not just for scubbing away all the germs but also the stress! If i've had an extremely busy day I tend to have a bath rather than a shower. A bathbomb and some music is the perfect combo! Let all my muscles relax and have some peace.

2. Put on fresh sheets and clean pjs and grab a cuddle buddy - Having an early night can do the world of good, even if you don't fall asleep right away it's nice to just sit back and do nothing all evening.

3. Clean my room- This is a strange one, clean to relax?! It really works! Clean and organised room means clean and organised thoughts. Makes bedtime much easier as my mind is at rest.

4. Movie night- Chilling out with some films and your fave snack, what else can I say?

5. Calling friends/family- For myself this tends to be Andrew most nights as he never fails to make me smile and take my mind off the day i've had and the next to come. Or i'll have a chat with my mum, she is a great listener and will always find the good in things.

What do you do after a stressful day?

Hilton Strathclyde stay | TeilzC

Hello everyone,

Myself and Andrew were lucky enough to receive some vouchers to use at the Hilton spa for our Christmas, so much stuff going on between little days away here and there we were only able to use them last weekend!

We each received a stress care package which consisted of a 30 minute back, neck and shoulder massage and a 45 minute facial. We'd both never had either so were a bit nervous on what to expect. We were first shown to a lovely waiting room- that was relaxing in itself, the pastel colours, comfy couches and free coffee. What more could a girl want?

Andrew was called in first, then myself 15 minutes later. The lady I got was called Natalie who was very kind as she knew it was my first time. She left the room to let me undress and get myself under the blanket. When she came back in she dimmed the lights and put on some relaxing music; when she began the massage she started telling me what she was going to do and asked if the pressure was alright. The 30 minutes flew by! I swear I must have fallen asleep I was that relaxed.  The facial was also brilliant! She started off asking how my skin was and chose out the products that would work best for me. Lots of lotions and potions were applied and afterwards my skin felt the softest it had felt in months! Would highly recommend this package and at only £55 for both the treatments and £10 each off the menu at the space restuarant, I would say it's quite the bargain!

We decided to stay the night at the hotel also, having stayed here a few times before and loved it we used our treatments as an excuse to stay again. As it's not right in the center of Glasgow there are usually some great deals going about. We booked maybe a month and a half prior to the day of arrival and the deal we got was fantastic! £80 for the night which included access to the pool and other facilities such as the gym, sauana and steam room, breakfast which is a buffett style with everything you could imagine and dinner- which we were a little worried it was going to be a set menu and us both being quite fussy wouldn't go well. We were pleasantly surprised when the waitress explained that we each got £23.95 to spend on the menu this only excludes drinks. We each got a three-course meal and our total bill was £8 for the few drinks we had each. Could not fault that at all. Our room was right beside the lift, which we had never had before so we were slightly worried about the noise but the Hilton has thought of everything, between the hall and bedroom space there was another door to cancel out any noise- we never heard a thing!

I would highly, highly recommend the Hilton Stathclyde- the staff are all lovely and we had a brilliant stay!

Here are some of the photos I took on the night:

Thanks for reading! Leave a comment of any hotels you thought were brilliant!

Advice to my younger self

Have you ever thought back to your teenage years or been tagged in an embarassing photo from forever ago that just makes you cringe? For me this is basically an everyday occurance; I often question my mum as to why she let me do half of the things I did to which she just shrugs. So today this post will be a few things i'd tell my younger self or some things I wish someone had told me at that age!

1. If eyeliner isn't going well, take it off and start again. I was terrible at liquid eyeliner to begin with and more often than not I would just go over any mistakes which would by the time I was finished make me look like a Panda. Not such a good look, unless it's Halloween of course.

2. Think about the colours of bands to get on my braces beforehand. Especially in my teens my favourite colour was yellow and I had traintrack braces with bands. Not a good combination! The month I had yellow bands felt like a lifetime!

3. It's not about quantity, it's about quality. During my school years I had quite a few fake friends who were there just for the good times. I learned over time that not all friends will he there when you need them.

4. Realise what you are at school for. Although I didn't get the worst results in school, I feel I could have done better if I actualy put the effort in instead of being more interested in going out with my friends.

5. As cliché as it sounds but just have been myself. Pretty self explanitory but sometimes I would just follow the crowd even if I didn't particularly like it.

Hope you enjoyed this post, what would you tell your younger self?

A day in the life... family day out! | TeilzC

Hello everyone! It's 2015, I can't believe it's here already. How did that happen?!

A few weeks ago myself, Andrew, his mum and gran took a little trip into Edinburgh to see Winter Wonderland that is still currently at Princes Gardens. We had a lovely day filled with shopping, waffles, hot chocolate and lots of laughs.

I took a few snaps throughout the day; I believe it is in Edinburgh for another weekso if you have the chance to go I'dhighly recommend it!

There were so so many stalls, something for everyone! Candles, chocolate, hot food, nut crackers, nic-naks - basically everything you could ever want from a market. So much variety!

We were so lucky that the sun came out for us- unusual to have a clear sky I the middle of Winter in Scotland.

As it gets darker the more beautiful Edinburgh gets, the lights look fantastic!

After a lovely day, there was mixed emotions. Sad to be leaving but so glad to see my bed! If you didn't get the chance to visit this year the it is definitely a must for next time around!

November Beauty Favourites | TeilzC

We are fastly approaching December so I thought I'd be prepared this month and make a start with my November favourites!

1. Real techniques - expert face brush: I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with this brush. It gives a lovely finish when using liquid foundation however only when the brush has just been cleaned. I feel it can only be used for a couple of days before the starts to become streaky on the skin and much harder to blend. But I just love love love the outcome when it is freshly washed. Spot cleaning has been a life saviour this month.

2. Smashbox photo finish foundation primer: As the colder months are coming in my skin has been getting so incredibly dry. Sometimes my foundation takes that bit more effort to blend and does not look as flawless over the dry area. This product is amazing! It ensures my foundation blends beautifully and I cannot recommend this enough!

3. Loreal Cheryl's nude:
This is a much loved piece in my make up collection, I believe it was in my July favourites also. This just shows it is an all year round colour. The colour itself is a your lips but better; it's lovely. However my favourite thing about this lipstick is how much moisture it gives your lips. It isn't drying in the slightest. Perfect for this time of the year.

4. Maybelline colour tattoo- on and on bronze:
Party season is upon us! I am a big lover of shimmery gold toned eyeshadow at this time of the year, or even just for a night time look. I much prefer it to black smokey eyes. This is an amazing on its own or used as a base for powder shadows. The staying power it has is also top notch.

5. Nars- and god created the woman palette:
As soon as I seen this on the Space NK website I knew I had to have it! The neutral colours are so me! I've never tried nars before and I can say I am certainly not disappointed! The colours are all very pigmented. There is just the right amount of shimmer in the colours, so your eyes don't resemble a discoball. The compact palette is just so easy to throw in your handbag or make up bag.

So that was my November beauty faves! What are your favourites for the month of November?

Rainy day - FOTD & OOTD | TeilzC

So the weather hasn't been all that great lately, Autumn is finally here!  I wasn't planning on doing very much today as I have been non-stop the past few weeks; needed a chilled out day.

Make up:
Foundation: Revlon photoready 002 vanilla
Concealer- Soap and Glory kick ass concealer in light
Contour- Bobbi Brown bronzer in golden light
Eyes- naked basics palette: naked 2 all over the lid and a touch of faint in the crease, benefit they're real push up liner and maybelline the colossal mascara.
Lips- Avon lipstix in brick red
Eyebrows- faint eyeshadow from naked basics palette

I didn't bother with a few things like powder and blush as my skin has been so dry lately that it's making my skin look quite flaky if i use powder. The joys of the changing seasons!

Outfit:

Honestly nothing special about my outfit, if i owned a onesie or a pair of joggers they would have been my first pick but unfortunately for me, leggings are the best option. I paired this with a black strap top to ensure my bottom half is covered as leggings are not trousers! I can't stress this enough, the amount of underwear I have seen while shopping is ridiculous. It's not cute girls! For a pop of colour I chose this lovely stretch material red peplum top, cute and comfortable. As it is quite chilly I ended up throwing on a black cardigan too.

Leggings- New Look
Strap top- Primark
Peplum top- New Look
Cardigan - H&M

And my slippers are from primark haha- they are a must for this time of year!

What do you wear on lazy rainy days?
